Bach Society of Minnesota’s associate artistic director Marco Real-d’Arbelles and spoken word artist and hip hop composer See More Perspective present a collaborative concert called Seeds of Culture: Baroque Time Travel Hip Hop at 7:30 pm Friday, Nov. 17 at Sacred Heart Music Center.

This thrilling concert concept will demonstrate the similarities between two seemingly disparate genres and underscore how both forms of music, though created centuries apart, have been considered experimental.

The Seeds of Culture concert is the first of the Bach Society of Minnesota’s new “Outside the Box” series, designed to create dialogue and collaboration with artists inside and outside the Western European classical tradition based in Minnesota.

Seeds of Culture will mix Hip Hop and Classical Baroque music in a program that explores what happens when the two genres cross each other’s borders. The concert will include pieces by Monteverdi, Charpentier, and Rameau and will serve as the inspiration for See More’s creations and samples. Joining See More and Marco on stage are vocalists Elena Stabile and Katherine Parent; lute and guitars by Phillip Rukavina; and Yunyue Liu on piano.

Following the performance there will be a meet-and-greet with the artists.
