DESCRIPTION:Duluth-based Eira and Willowgreen will perform “Winter Solstice Fire: Music for the Winter Seasons” with a special guest appearance by harpist\, Mary Hagen for a memorial/tribute to Willowgreen’s longtime harpist Georganne Hunter. \nThis special holiday concert will be held at 2 pm Sunday\, Dec. 21 on the beautiful Sacred Heart altar stage. \nWillowgreen  has been at the forefront of Celtic music and a Northland favorite for 40 years. Their Holiday concerts are a “must-see” in Duluth and especially at Sacred Heart Music Center.  \nEira (pronounced “era” in North America) features Willowgreen members Jim Ofsthun\, Sue Spencer\, Liesel Wilson and Bridget Spencer. The group performs music from Scotland\, Ireland\, Newfoundland\, Canada\, Wales\, China\, Scandinavia and the United States. Instrumentation includes  fiddle\, erhu\, guitars\, bodhrán\, octave mandolin\, octave fiddle\, button accordion\, and whistles. \nE-tickets will be available for $15 (plus $2.85 in fees) at 10 a.m. Friday\, Oct. 31 HERE. DESCRIPTION:“Reflections on Ravel” is a celebration marking the 150th Anniversary of French composer\, pianist and conductor Maurice Ravel‘s birth in 1875. \nWith his unique and compelling voice at the crossroads between impressionism and modernism\, Ravel created a kaleidoscope of soundscapes. DESCRIPTION:Minnesota folk favorites Sara Thomsen and Peter Mayer will celebrate the holidays with a great double bill on the beautiful Sacred Heart altar stage at 7 pm Saturday\, Dec. 7. \nBased in Stillwater\, Peter Mayer has produced music full-time for 25 years\, performing in venues across the United States and beyond. He writes songs for a small planet\, songs about life and the mysterious fact of our existence. He also writes about dress hats\, pumpkins and pajamas and other important stuff. Peter has 11 albums to his credit and has sold over 100\,000 of them to his legions of fans. A new set of singles were released in 2024. \nNorthland singer-songwriter Sara Thomsen has released six solo albums including her latest “Song Like a Seed.” She is artist director and member of “Three Altos” and is the founder and artistic director of the Echos for Peace Choir.
