SUMMARY:Reflections on Ravel
DESCRIPTION:“Reflections on Ravel” is a celebration marking the 150th Anniversary of French composer\, pianist and conductor Maurice Ravel‘s birth in 1875. \nWith his unique and compelling voice at the crossroads between impressionism and modernism\, Ravel created a kaleidoscope of soundscapes. Immerse yourself in the iconic French composer’s universe through his chamber music works and arrangements of his most treasured pieces to celebrate the winter season. \nPerformers from the Twin Ports classical music community include: Paula Gudmundson\, flute; Theodore Schoen\, clarinet; Ben Jorge\, trombone; Jennifer Lien\, soprano; Georgia Jacobson\, mezzo-soprano; Kristen Sande\, violin; Jennifer Mattson\, violin; Jonathan Kresha\, viola; Byron Klimek\, cello; Charles Sundquist\, piano; and Janell Lemire\, harp. \nThis activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board\, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund. \nE-tickets will be available on Eventbrite for $20 (plus $3.18 in fees) at 10 a.m. Friday\, Oct. 31 HERE. Paper tickets will be available for $20 at Globe News in Superior (cash only) and Zenith Bookstore in West Duluth (plus $1 handling fee). Tickets will be available at the door while supply lasts for $25. Student rush tickets available at the door only for $5. Doors at 2 pm. Music at 3 pm.

DESCRIPTION:Caitlyn Smith is an acclaimed singer-songwriter whose powerful vocals and masterful storytelling have made her one of the most compelling voices in modern music. Born and raised in Cannon Falls\, Minnesota\, Caitlyn has released three studio albums on Monument Records—Starfire (2018)\, Supernova (2020)\, and High & Low (2023)—and is currently in the studio working on her fourth. \nRenowned for her genre-defying songwriting\, Caitlyn has penned hits for icons like Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers (“You Can’t Make Old Friends”)\, pop stars Meghan Trainor and John Legend (“Like I’m Gonna Lose You”)\, and country standouts including Lainey Wilson\, Lady A\, Garth Brooks\, Jason Aldean\, Ian Munsick\, and Gabby Barrett. Her songs have also been recorded by artists such as Miley Cyrus\, Mumford & Sons\, Fletcher\, Avicii\, James Bay\, and countless others. \nAfter years of success behind the scenes\, Caitlyn stepped into the spotlight with Starfire\, her confident debut blending pop\, soul\, and country influences.
