DESCRIPTION:After five years in the making\, Nicholas David is celebrating his first vinyl release: “More Than Music” with a 7:30 pm concert Friday\, Dec. 12 on the beautiful Sacred Heart altar stage. \nThe St. Paul-based singer/songwriter has been making music “from the heart for the heart” for nearly 30 years. Like the mighty Mississippi River\, David’s musical journey follows a cosmic current that’s taken him coast-to-coast and across the pond. From NBC’s “The Voice” where he met Bill Withers\, sang with Smokey Robinson and took home third place honors\, to riding along the rock and roll highway with the Allman Brothers’ sons! \nCome celebrate an evening where dreams and reality mix into music. \nDuluth’s own Teague Alexy opens the evening with his unique brand of storytelling and song. \nAdvance e-tickets will go on sale for $20 (plus $3.18 in service fees) on Eventbrite HERE at 10 a.m. Thursday\, Oct. 9. DESCRIPTION:Presenting some of the finest northland music makers\, Danny Frank & The Smoky Gold will host their 3rd Annual Songwriter Showcase at 7 pm Saturday\, March 23 on the beautiful Sacred Heart Music Center altar stage. \nThis one-time-only event features three singer-songwriters performing a solo set of their original music for a live audience\, discussing the craft of songwriting\, and sharing stories that inspire their music. Danny Frank & The Smoky Gold will conclude the night with a full band performance. \n2024 featured artists are: Shane Nelson\, Hannah Rey and Skarlett Woods. \nFrank said the inspiration for this event emerged in part by reflecting on his own journey as a singer songwriter\, and in part through his admiration of the multitude of gifted songwriters and performers in the Twin Ports area. \n“Songwriting lives at the heart of all music\, regardless of genre or instrumentation. It is a process of self-reflection and storytelling mixed with creative melodic expression\,” said Frank. “I have always been amazed at the sheer number of musicians in the Duluth area who write and perform their own original music. Many of these people are my dear friends\, and comprise a beautiful\, passionate\, and supportive community. DESCRIPTION:Turn Turn Turn is a trio who bonded over their mutual love of close harmony 60s and 70s country\, folk\, and pop music and formed an original Americana band. To create their distinctive sound\, the band “turns” to the distant past of early American recorded music\, “turns” again to that renaissance of the 1960s and 1970s\, and finally “turns” again to the present looking forward. \nMembers Adam Levy (guitar\, vocals)\, Savannah Smith (guitar\, vocals) and Barb Brynstad (bass\, vocals) are all mainstays of the Minnesota music scene and together craft an infectious\, pop-infused Americana. \nEven though Turn Turn Turn was born as a cover band\, the group’s original material – sweetheart alt-country folk-pop – quickly stole the spotlight. \nDuluth sister duo The Penny Peaches will open. \nThis concert is rescheduled from October. \nBuy Tickets\nAdvance e-tickets are available HERE for $20.
