DESCRIPTION:Minnesota folk favorites share the beautiful altar stage for a special concert celebrating Earth Day. \n\n\n\n\nMinnesota folk favorites Sara Thomsen and Peter Mayer will celebrate Earth Day with a great double bill on the beautiful Sacred Heart altar stage at 7:30 pm Friday\, April 24. \nA portion of the ticket proceeds will go to Ecolibrium3\, a sustainability non-profit working in Duluth’s Lincoln Park neighborhood. \nBased in Stillwater\, Peter Mayer has produced music full-time for 25 years\, performing in venues across the United States and beyond. He writes songs for a small planet\, songs about life and the mysterious fact of our existence. He also writes about dress hats\, pumpkins and pajamas and other important stuff. Peter has 11 albums to his credit and has sold over 100\,000 of them to his legions of fans. \nNorthland singer-songwriter Sara Thomsen has released seven solo albums including her latest “Here and Gone.” She is artist director and member of “Three Altos” and is the founder and artistic director of the Echos for Peace Choir. Her music has been compared to Joan Baez\, Pete Seeger and Holly Near\, filled with passion for love\, life\, nature and human rights. \nPeter and Sara will each perform a set and play together on a few choice songs as we celebrate our planet. \nTickets are $30 in advance (plus $3.85 in fees) and $35 at the door. DESCRIPTION:The Friends of the Felgemaker presents an afternoon of organ music on Sunday\, April 19 at 3:00 p.m. featuring Sacred Heart Music Center’s Resident Organist\, Dr. Charles Sundquist. The concert will showcase works played on the music center’s historic Felgemaker pipe organ. \nThe program entitled “An Afternoon with the Romantics\,” includes diverse works by romantic composers Bossi\, Buck\, Widor\, and Rheinberger\, plus a work by the master of baroque organ music\, J.S. Bach. \nDr. Charles Sundquist is a native of Duluth\, Minnesota. After his initial organ studies with Ron Gauger at the University of Minnesota\, Duluth\, he received his Master’s and Doctorate degrees in Organ Performance and Literature from the Eastman School of Music\, where he was a student of David Craighead. He was awarded the Prix d’Excellence from the Conservatoire de Région de Ruiel-Malmaison in France while a student of Marie-Claire Alain. While in Paris\, he was Associate Choirmaster and Organist at the American Episcopal Cathedral\, accompanist for the Paris Ballet School and coach/accompanist for members of the Paris Opera Chorus. Dr. Sundquist served as Organ Scholar at Trinity Church Wall Street\, Associate organist at St. Clement’s Church Philadelphia and Director of Music/Organist at St. Paul’s Lutheran in East Windsor\, NJ. \nTickets are $20 (plus $3.18 service fee) on Eventbrite HERE or $20 at the door. DESCRIPTION:Minnesota music legend Cornbread Harris\, age 98\, sings and performs his unique brand of blues on piano with a full backing band in a historic night at Sacred Heart Music Center. \nBorn in Chicago and raised in St. Paul\, Harris began entertaining on piano while in the U.S. Army at a World War II recreation center. Following the war\, he joined a band led by Augie Garcia\, recording Minnesota’s first rock and roll hit “Hi-Yo Silver.” The group famously opened Elvis Presley’s first Twin Cities concert in 1956. \nHarris has performed solo jazz and blues piano regularly in Twin Cities nightclubs and bars for decades. DESCRIPTION:Kavyesh Kaviraj is a composer\, arranger and pianist living and working in Minnesota. The Twin Cities based musician has worked with several internationally renowned artists\, including the likes of Wynton Marsalis\, David Sanchez\, Justin Robinson\, Roosevelt Collier & Steve Cole. \nBorn in the town of Sohar in Oman to Indian parents\, Kavyesh began his musical journey almost immediately\, inspired by his family’s rich musical ancestry. After studying music in India\, Kavyesh moved to the United States in 2016 to pursue a music education career. DESCRIPTION:Shelter From The Storm is a Duluth-based band that celebrates the music of hometown legend Bob Dylan. \nDuluth Dylan Fest is pleased to announce Shelter From The Storm will perform at its annual Bob Dylan Tribute concert beginning at 7 pm Saturday\, May 24 – Bob Dylan’s 84th Birthday.  \nThe band’s roots go back to 1993 when a group of local musicians put together a show to honor Bob Dylan’s birthday. This became an annual tradition where the group performed under the names The Bobcats and the Bob Dylan Revue\, and regularly included Duluth’s finest musicians. \nDifferent iterations of the group performed at the 2019 and 2021 Duluth Dylan Festivals. DESCRIPTION:Blues Night hits the music center! \nNorthern Minnesota-based rockers Corey Medina & Brothers\, Duluth favorites Boku Frequency and rising star Jon Edwards headline a night of amazing blues on the altar stage at 7 pm Saturday\, May 17. \nCorey Medina & Brothers is a blues-rock band based out of Bemidji\, Mn. The band is lead by Corey Medina who is a Diné/Navajo Native from Shiprock\, NM. Medina recorded his first solo album in 2015\, formed a group\, and released two Corey Medina & Brothers records in 2019 and 2022. The band includes: Eric Sundeen on drums\, Gary Broste on string bass and Brock Beaulieu on guitar/string Bass \nPower trio Boku Frequency performs a mix of psychedelic funk\, greasy blues and down-and-dirty dance rock. The group has played across the Twin Ports for more than 20 years. The group features Terry Gums on electric guitar\, Thomas Harris on bass and Elliott Harris on drums. \nDuluth-based solo artist Jon Edwards performs on the 12-string and resonator guitars.
