DESCRIPTION:Minnesota-native Dan Wilson is a singer\, songwriter\, musician\, producer\, and visual artist who has collaborated with some of the biggest names in popular music. \nHe will perform live\, in concert on the beautiful Sacred Heart Music Center altar stage at 7:30 pm Thursday\, Oct. 16. This concert will also be livestreamed worldwide on the Sacred Heart YouTube channel. \nWilson has earned seven Grammy Award nominations in the last 26 years\, winning honors four times. \nHis songwriting resume includes “Closing Time”\, which he wrote for his band\, Semisonic\, “Not Ready to Make Nice” (co-written with the Dixie Chicks) and “Someone like You” (co-written with Adele). He earned a 1999 Grammy nomination for “Closing Time” (Best Rock Song) and won Grammys for Song of the Year (“Not Ready to Make Nice” in 2007)\, Country Song of the Year (“White Horses” co-written with Chris Stapleton in 2024) and Best Song Written for Visual Media (“It Never Went Away” co-written with Jon Batiste for the film “American Symphony” in 2025). However\, Dan Forrest’s “Requiem For The Living” focuses on the experience of those still living and their own struggle with pain and sorrow. This stunningly beautiful music has been performed by choral groups and orchestras around the world since its debut in 2013. This is music that touches the hearts of listeners\, offering comfort and peace. \nThe event will feature vocal soloist Brian Kapp\, tenor; Tasha Kapp\, soprano; and Cole Ottjes\, treble. The band includes: Eric Sundeen on drums\, Gary Broste on string bass and Brock Beaulieu on guitar/string Bass \nPower trio Boku Frequency performs a mix of psychedelic funk\, greasy blues and down-and-dirty dance rock. The group has played across the Twin Ports for more than 20 years. The group features Terry Gums on electric guitar\, Thomas Harris on bass and Elliott Harris on drums. \nDuluth-based solo artist Jon Edwards performs on the 12-string and resonator guitars. The story revolves around a bachelor in a powdered wig who marries his servant after she tricks him into believing she will marry a military man. DESCRIPTION:Minnesota troubadour Mason Jennings returns to Duluth during the holidays performing work from his latest album “Underneath the Roses” along with a selection of old favorites. \nJennings will perform solo both on guitar and the beautiful Sacred Heart grand piano. \nFeaturing the songs\, “Only Lovers Welcome” and “No Ordinary Friend\,” the album “Underneath the Roses” was written in a burst of creativity following the birth of Mason’s son. \n“I called it Underneath The Roses because I feel like these songs are musical roses and when I look below them there are many thorns and so much dirt and soil. DESCRIPTION:Formed in 2005 as an off-shoot project between three Minneapolis-based musicians and friends\, The New Standards has grown into a globe-spanning adventure—filling theaters and clubs around the world and spawning several CDs\, videos and cartoons\, as well as dance and theater projects that have charmed and delighted an ever-multiplying legion of faithful fans. \nThe trio will perform their unique jazz take on pop\, punk and classic rock hits as well as songs from the American songbook at 7:30 pm Friday\, Nov. 15. DESCRIPTION:Duluth native and Minneapolis-based singer-songwriter\, producer and performance artist Nat Harvie headlines a night of experimental music with support from Alan Sparhawk of Low and featuring organist Molly Raben. \nDon’t miss this one-time-only concert at 7:30 pm Wednesday\, Oct. 23. \nHarvie (they/them) fell deep into the world of DIY recording as a teenager growing up in Duluth. As a solo artist\, Harvie began to produce and release work independently in 2015\, featuring heartfelt songwriting and lush arrangements. Harvie has collaborated with a long list of Twin Ports and Twin Cities artists over the years recording three full-length albums between 2018 and 2022. A fourth full-length album\, New Virginity\, was released in 2024. \nEach of the album’s eight songs is a story\, dreaming of an imagined future as the last person alive on earth\, to a mirror version of childhood\, the possibilities of gender in a ruined Eden\, and the inevitable loss that comes from loving – all happening together at once. \n“There’s a magical realism to saying ‘I am a virgin again’ – it becomes true – this is the logic of the album: that one can reset their relationship to experience\, to the sensual\,” Harvie says. “It’s not regressive though\, not revisionist – I am not winding back the clock of my life\, I am bringing a new virginity to myself.” \nSparhawk released his debut solo album White Roses\, My God on Sub Pop records in September. He will embark on a national and UK tour in November. \nRaben is an organist based in Minneapolis. With one foot in a corner of the cosmos\, she will weave patterns of nature\, light\, and the unseen into sonic meditations and improvisations on the historic Felgemaker organ. \nAdvance tickets are available on Eventbrite HERE for $20 (plus fees).
