SUMMARY:Chastity Brown
DESCRIPTION:As the daughter of a blues musician\, Chastity Brown was born with an innate ability to channel complex circumstances into beautiful\, uplifting songs. But after surviving the isolation of the early pandemic and witnessing the global racial reckoning that manifested itself in the riots mere blocks from her South Minneapolis home\, even she is surprised to hear the way her new album Sing To The Walls turned out. \n“It’s a love album\, in a way I didn’t plan on\,” Chastity says. \nLike so many artists who endured the uncertainty of the 2020 lockdown\, Chastity’s instinct was to turn inward\, at first out of self-preservation\, and then because the new songs kept coming and coming. Since finishing her last album\, 2017’s Silhouette Of Sirens\, she estimates she’s written nearly 100 new songs\, 10 of which found their way onto Sing To The Walls. \nDon’t miss Chastity Brown performing songs from her new record and all her old favorites on the beautiful Sacred Heart altar stage. \nDuluth singer-songwriter Nolen Sellwood will open. \nBuy Tickets\nAdvance E-tickets are available for $20 on Eventbrite.com HERE. Paper tickets will be available at Zenith Bookstore in West Duluth and Globe News in Superior. Tickets will be available at the door while supply lasts for $25. Doors open at 6:30. Music at 7:30. Can’t make the show in Duluth? Tickets for the live streamed concert on YouTube are available HERE for $12.

SUMMARY:Church of Cash
DESCRIPTION:Singer\, guitar player and Johnny Cash devotee\, Jay Ernest established the Church of Cash in 2010. Drawing from his extensive experience touring around the world\, Jay returned to his Minnesota roots\, driven to spread the gospel of one of the world’s most influential and timeless songwriters. \nThe Church of Cash remains steadfast in their devotion to the music of Johnny Cash. Led by Jay’s resounding baritone voice\, their performances echo the gentle breeze of the prairie and resonate with the commanding stomp of a boot heel. Far from being a typical country band\, the Church of Cash stands as a tribute band with a clear mission: to honor the lasting legacy of the Man In Black. \nDuluth singer-songwriter Misisipi Mike Wolf will open. \nBuy Tickets\nAdvance E-Tickets are available for $20 on Eventbrite.com HERE. Paper tickets will be available at Zenith Bookstore in West Duluth and Globe News in Superior. Tickets will be available at the door for $25 while they last. Doors at 6:30. Music at 7:30.

SUMMARY:Pieta Brown
DESCRIPTION:Boundary-pushing\, singer-songwriter Pieta Brown makes her debut on the Sacred Heart altar stage with her band The Taken – featuring guitar player Erik Koskinen Friday\, April 26. \nThe daughter of two preacher’s kids\, Pieta was brought up in rural Iowa where she was exposed to traditional and rural folk music through her father\, beloved folk singer Greg Brown. Later\, while living with her mother in Alabama\, Pieta expanded these influences and began writing poems and composing instrumental songs on piano. \nIn her early 20’s\, after experiencing what she describes as “the songs calling\,” Pieta started experimenting with the banjo and eventually picked up a 1930’s Maybell arch-top guitar and never looked back. Emerging from a disjointed and distinctly ‘bohemian’ upbringing\, Pieta began performing live and making independent recordings. “I grew up around a lot of musicians and artists living on the fringe\, and have always felt most at home among them\,” Pieta says. \nPieta has toured with Mark Knopfler\, John Prine\, Amos Lee\, Brandi Carlisle\, JJ Cale\, Ani Difranco\, Mavis Staples\, and Calexico among others. She released her most recent album Freeway in September 2019 on Righteous Babe. \nDuluth-based singer-songwriter Colleen “Boss Mama” Myhre will open.
